The Food/Acne Link

What is the acne/food relationship? When discussing acne, food is seldom discussed as a treatment or cause of acne. Some say, "That's impossible!" But it's true. Some natural foods actually induce or promote acne.

There are some natural foods that actually lead to rosacea, blemishes, and cystic acne - regardless of whether you are a teenager or an adult. Acne can be prevalent in adults as well as teenagers and there are ways we can avoid it - although the pharmaceutical and drug companies will tell you otherwise.

The drug companies occupy a billion dollar industry and there's a lot of money to be made. What the public doesn't know is advantageous for these companies because it keeps us coming back for more treatments - that continue to feed this huge industry.

Many people with acne don't realize is that diet can actually have a huge impact on our skin. What does this mean for us? It means less money spent on medicines and treatments and more time spent on enjoying life, instead of worrying about acne.

What foods cause acne?

Did you know that mangos, bagels, potatoes, popcorn, papaya, and other "natural" food actually causes acne? It's true. This type of  food is inflammation-inducing food which cause problems such as a rapid rise in blood sugar levels. This leads to a burst of inflammation on a cellular level. Basically, as our insulin rises, this leads to increased inflammation throughout our bodies.

  • Refined carbs/sugar creates more more insulin
  • More insulin triggers hormone production
  • Increase hormonal activity generates more sebum (skin oils)
  • The more oil on your skin, the more attractive it is to bacteria
  • The more bacteria present, the greater your risk of acne.

It is essential to stick to eating anti-inflammatory food like apples, oatmeal, yogurt, fish and celery (to name a few).  No more expensive drugs...

You will find the secret is right in your very own kitchen! It's all in what you eat.

Remember, your health and well-being is your responsibility. Take care of your skin. It will love you for it!
